Ready or not, Fashion Week is here. To get into the spirit, we asked Intermix buyers Candy Yeh and Alex Willinger which shows they’re most looking forward to, what they’ll be wearing, and which trends they think will take off for fall 2013. Cue up the catwalk.
Which shows are you most looking forward to?
Candy: “I’m so excited to see what Helmut Lang brings us for fall 2013, as I think they had one of the most refreshing spring 2013 collections — full of color and amazing prints. The fall season always makes me crave cozy sweaters and coats, and I know Rag & Bone will deliver an amazing show full of gorgeous textures and fabrics, as usual.”
Alex: “Stella McCartney: The opera house in Paris is a magical place to begin with — the clothes are the cherry on top! And Zac Posen: I always feel like I’ve wandered into a fairytale — everything from the gorgeous gowns to the dramatic music is a dream come true.”
Are there any trends you predict or hope will take off this season?
Candy: “We’re seeing a great response to pants this spring season and I’m hoping that we’ll see a return of the pant for fall. There is something really chic about a perfectly fitted pant and killer heels. I’m hoping a cigarette pant will come back — not a prediction but just my hope!”
Alex: “If pre-fall is any indication, this will be a big season of green. I’m looking for the perfect military winter coat.”
Of course we want to know what you’ll be wearing …
Candy: “I will either be casual in Rag & Bone ripped skinny jeans, a Proenza long-sleeve colorful t-shirt, Givenchy wedge booties, and my trusty Mason cropped shearling; or in my favorite Yigal Azrouël fitted dress, Pierre Hardy colorblock heels, and my Mason leather-sleeve wool coat. Bag of choice: either classic black Chanel or black leather PS11.”
Alex: “With this cold weather, I’ll be layering as much as possible this Fashion Week! I have my go-to black stretch suiting pants from Stella McCartney that will go with everything; my new Stella McCartney black and white printed floral harem pants that I can’t wait to wear; and my favorite sweaters from Joseph. I also can’t wait to wear our new black and camel dress from N21 designer Alessandro dell’Acqua. It’s fit-and-flared to perfection!”
