In The Mix With Yigal Azrouël

1 of 6

The bright, playful colors in Yigal Azrouël’s Spring 2012 collection were mixed in his color studio in NYC and inspired by fantastical mythical heroes in the 1920’s.

There are so many fun events happening this time of year. What would you recommend wearing to holiday parties and events?
I always go for a look that is effortless and modern. For me it is important not to try too hard. A minimal, sleek silhouette like those in my Resort 2012 Collection work really well for the holiday season. To a New Year’s event it’s fun to add a pop of color or layer on great statement jewelry.

What can we expect from your Spring 2012 line?
For my Spring 2012 collection I combined bold colors and clean silhouettes. I wanted to capture the aesthetic of a modern, confident woman, with a sort of masculine edge; for example, the juxtaposition of suiting pieces with voluminous gowns. I experimented with various textures and new color combinations.

What are some Spring trends you’re excited about?
I love all the layering and suiting pieces as well as the nude and ethereal white colors.

Your resort line is so bright and colorful! Where did the inspiration for that come from?
I took a lot of my inspiration for my color palette from the film, The Fall.

Where will you be ringing in the New Year and what is your New Year’s resolution?
I will be in Costa Rica surfing and relaxing. My New Year’s Resolution is to exercise even more.
